MA-IN is a group of 4 women from Pyin Oo Lwin, the Shan Highlands. This organization is run by the Salesian sisters. The sisters organize a 2-year training for the young women wherein they learn sewing and life skills. In the 2nd year of the training, the students have to choose a specialization, between sewing, embroidery and knitting. The students organize a fashion show annually, which receives lots of appreciation. The group makes customized products for Hla Day and other organizations outside Myanmar. This serves as income generation for the program. After receiving training, some women return to their villages and start their own businesses, providing employment to more women in their respective communities, while others seek employment in the garment industry.
