We recently visited the workshop of Ma Khin Aye, a wonderfully skilled seamstress who has been collaborating with Hla Day since 2016.
The workshop employs five women, some of them widows, single mothers, or living with HIV, and is bursting with a colorful array of textiles coming from all over the country.
Ma Khin Aye first started her business with the objective of supporting her daughter throughout university. Now that her daughter has graduated, Ma Khin Aye continues her work, inspired by her passion for sewing and the women who work with her.
With a fantastic eye for detail and design, Ma Khin Aye and her team make clothing, bags, cushion covers, and many other products with which they continue to expand and experiment.
